Driving in flip-flops is more dangerous than heels, with the flimsy footwear responsible for an estimated 1.4 million car crashes or near misses per year. The all-new 2014 Kia Forte debuted at the LA Auto Show in November, and it will hit dealerships in the first quarter of this year. Powertrains and trims are consolidated, the interior is updated and the small sedan will now feature something called FlexSteer, which adjusts the weight of the wheel from comfort to normal to sport. Equipment on the second-generation sedan will rival that of almost any of the luxury brands, even in base trim.

The Jaguar XF makes its debut - but haven't we seen it already? You've already been treated to advance pictures and details of Jaguar's crucial new 5-series rival in CAR magazine and on CAR Online, but the troubled Midlands firm has chosen BMW, Mercedes and Audi's home motor show for the official launch of its new XF. A bold move, but a wise one; its bigger rivals - including Lexus - have little new in this sector at Frankfurt, leaving the XF to steal the headlines and - Jaguar hopes - some sales too.
